Each week you’ll spend some time reviewing the previous week’s lesson. Did anything happen last week that brought the lesson to mind, and what did you learn from it?

Watch

Watch the following discussion-starter video. It’ll set the topic of discussion for the group.

Read: Acts 11:19-30

1. One person will first read the scripture selection in the King James Version.
2. Next, another person will read the same passages in a modern language or amplified version for more clarity such as the New Living Translation (NLT), Message Bible (MSG), New English Translation (NET), Amplified Bible (AMP), etc. We recommend using the YouVersion Bible app.

Retell

1. One person will begin retelling the scripture passage in their own words (a new person to start each week is great!) Then…
2. As a group, work together to fill in gaps and build the story. This will help us internalize and own it. Be sure everyone participates.

Discuss

Together, share around the group how the topic and scripture setting applies to your life personally. Here are some thoughts to consider for discussion… don’t let the discussion stop here, though… what questions can you ask that will help uncover God’s message?

Revival among the Gentiles

• What were the cities that the disciples preached in? 
• Who did they preach to only (at first)? (verse 19)
• Who did they preach to in Antioch? (verse 20) Why was this noteworthy? 
• Can we anticipate who God will save?

Blessed and Encouraged

• In verse 21 how was the move among the Grecians described?
• What did the church at Jerusalem do when they heard of the revival?
• How did Barnabas feel when he saw what God was doing?
• What did Barnabas do when he saw what God was doing?
• What characteristics of Barnabas did the Bible give as the cause of his response? (verse 24)
• How should we respond when God does something good for someone else?

Getting help

• Who did Barnabas go and get?
• Who do you think Barnabas wanted the help?
• What did Saul and Barnabas do? 
• Why is teaching important if the disciples already believed?
• Why is it important for our hearts and souls to continually study the scripture and apply it to our lives?

Sending help

• What prophecy did Agabus bring?
• What was the response of the disciples to the prophecy? 
• How did the expansion of the church into Antioch (which took over a year) secure the health of the church in Judea?
• How is an individual more secure when a congregation is growing and spreading the gospel?
