Unstoppable Commitment

Pray

Pray together for the group meeting, and any pressing needs within the group.

Review

Each week you’ll spend some time reviewing the previous week’s lesson. Did anything happen last week that brought the lesson to mind, and what did you learn from it?

Watch

NOTE: Because of the COVID season, there is no video for this discussion.

Read: Acts 7:1, 51-60

  1. One person will first read the scripture selection in the King James Version.
  2. Next, another person will read the same passages in a modern language or amplified version for more clarity such as the New Living Translation (NLT), Message Bible (MSG), New English Translation (NET), Amplified Bible (AMP), etc. We recommend using the YouVersion Bible app.

Retell

  1. One person will begin retelling the scripture passage in their own words (a new person to start each week is great!) Then…
  2. As a group, work together to fill in gaps and build the story. This will help us internalize and own it. Be sure everyone participates.

Discuss

Together, share around the group how the topic and scripture setting applies to your life personally. Here are some thoughts to consider for discussion… don’t let the discussion stop here, though… what questions can you ask that will help uncover God’s message?

In front of the Sanhedrin

  1. Who was the Sanhedrin? Why did they think they had authority over Stephen’s speech?
  2. Who is the high priest ?
  3. Today how do people try to control what others believe and say?
  4. In what situations might someone challenge your faith?

Falsely Accused

  1. What was the high priest’s question to Stephen? Why do you think the question was asked?
  2. How did Stephen answer?
  3. How would a man answer if he was trying to placate or avoid punishment?
  4. As the Sanhedrin rushed Stephen – what did they see? What did Stephen see?
  5. In Verse 55 what was different about Stephen tha changed what he saw in that moment?
  6. How different does your life look if seen through your present circumstances or through an “all in” commitment to Jesus?

I can’t hear you!

  1. What did Stephen say he saw in heaven?
  2. What was the reaction of the Sanhedrin to Stephen’s declaration?
  3. If you saw the Glory of God in heaven – would this be positive for you?

Forgiveness

  1. What was Stephens last conscious act?
  2. Why is forgiveness of sins essential to a committed Christians life (and death)?
  3. Was Stephen having a good day or a bad day? Why or why not?
  4. At the end of the day where did Stephen’s commitment take him?

Next Week…
